An inspiration for Zorro, most notably Robin Hood's courage and valor popularized by Howard Pyle's interpretation, he was not quite the inspiration for Batman that some expect.
Instead, the archer more directly inspired Batman's sidekick, Robin. Created by Bill Finger, Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson, Robin had the dashing aspects of his namesake. Where Batman remained dour, the more colorful half of the Dynamic Duo enjoyed the taunting quips that Robin Hood used to throw his adversaries off balance.
DC Comics found a more direct interpretation of the Robin Hood character in Green Arrow, however, right down to the Lincoln Green costume.
