​On December 18, 2022, 33-year-old Ali Naji entered the Dearborn Police Department lobby and attempted to fire a stolen 9mm handgun at an officer. After Naji's weapon suffered a mechanical malfunction, Corporal Timothy Clive returned fire through the security partition, an action later ruled by prosecutors as lawful self-defense.
