Iron Maiden’s May 26, 1983 concert at the Hammersmith Odeon in London was a strong World Piece Tour stop, promoting the fresh Piece of Mind album with a set that mixed the new material with established early era staples. Bruce Dickinson’s vocals carried the show, and the band’s 1983 lineup—Harris, Murray, Smith, McBrain and Dickinson—ran through the tour’s core songs with the tight delivery heard on the circulating recording. Fans still recall Bruce quipping about the FA Cup replay score that night, a small moment that added a local touch to one of the band’s classic Hammersmith appearances.

Iron Maiden are an influential English heavy metal band formed in 1975 by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris, eventually solidifying around the long running lineup of Harris, Bruce Dickinson, Nicko McBrain, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers. Over a career spanning nearly five decades, they’ve released a deep catalogue of studio albums, live albums, EPs, compilations, singles and video releases, becoming key figures in the new wave of British heavy metal with landmark records like Iron Maiden, Killers, The Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave, Somewhere in Time, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, No Prayer for the Dying and Fear of the Dark. The return of Dickinson and Smith in 1999 sparked a strong resurgence, leading to globally successful albums such as A Matter of Life and Death, The Final Frontier, The Book of Souls and Senjutsu. With well over 100 million albums sold, hundreds of worldwide certifications, thousands of concerts performed, and a legacy shaped by ambitious themes, distinctive artwork and the enduring presence of their mascot Eddie, Iron Maiden stand as one of heavy metal’s most respected and enduring bands.
