THE UAE’S ‘GLOSS’ PROPAGANDA

In a debunking of UAE propaganda, leftist commentator Willz.Talks noted the derailing tactics of state-backed Emirati influencers who respond to accusations of their country bankrolling g*nocide or maintaining modern-day slavery by pointing towards the UAE’s GDP and skyscrapers.
But far from being a defence, such lines are merely a distraction. Their propaganda avoids debunking the accusations of war crimes and instead points to "rising GDP" and "young professionals moving from the UK."

Willz.Talks also noted how such arguments are propaganda techniques employed by US-backed states to mask the blood on their hands. For example, Israel highlights its clubs in Tel Aviv while the countries they have destabilised sit in ruins, while Rhodesia pointed to its jobs and “stability” to justify a white-supremacist regime.

The goal is to make the atrocity feel "impossible" because the setting is so modern and glossy. But "modernity" is not a shield for human rights abuses. While the UAE can buy the silence and complicity of the international community, it cannot buy its way out of reality. It is actively funding the Rapid Support Forces g*nocidal project in Sudan, while complicit in Israel’s crimes in G*za. In addition, the UAE’s glittering skylines are built on the backs of an exploited migrant underclass.

No amount of blood gold or fancy towers will ever change the reality of how they were built or who was slaughtered to pay for them. In this case, wealth is not an alibi. It is the evidence.
