You Will Own No RAM

Building your own computer used to be a rite of passage. That era is ending.

Manufacturers that once focused on consumer hardware—GPUs, RAM, SSDs—are pivoting toward AI data centers. Micron is exiting the Crucial consumer business by 2026. Samsung and SK Hynix are redirecting massive memory capacity to AI workloads, while Meta plans to spend $72B on AI infrastructure.

Project Stargate locked up roughly 40% of global DRAM output, and RAM prices have already doubled.

The result? Higher prices, tighter supply, and a push toward cloud computing—where you don’t own a powerful machine, you rent compute by the minute. Another “you will own nothing and be happy” moment.

Avoid over-using cloud AI and software baked with AI. Most data-center demand comes from inference—constant use. The more people go local, the less incentive there is to build massive AI infrastructure.

Subjugation to AI comes from our own complicity and use. Your actions matter.
