A Trees Response to Love

A good gardener feeds and waters their plants. A great one knows love is an essential nutrient.

New research from the HeartMath Institute suggests that focused love and appreciation can measurably affect the health of trees. Using sensors placed in tree trunks, researchers tracked electrical rhythms tied to tree vitality.

In one study, a small group spent 10 minutes a day sending love to a single tree. Its electrical activity rose almost immediately and stayed elevated. In another experiment, hundreds of people from around the world did the same—non-locally—and the trees still responded.

The findings suggest something profound: focused attention and heartfelt intention may influence living systems, even across distance.
