Seizures are sudden bursts of abnormal electrical activity in the brain. They can affect movement, awareness, behavior, or sensations.

Common types

Focal seizures – start in one area of the brain (may involve twitching, unusual sensations, or confusion)

Generalized seizures – involve both sides of the brain

Tonic-clonic (convulsions, loss of consciousness)

Absence (brief staring spells)

Possible causes

Epilepsy
