Plot Summary
During World War II, a U.S. soldier suffers amnesia after surviving a bombing that kills his three fellow soldiers in a French farmhouse. The bodies of the deceased are unidentifiable, and the four sets of dog tags found in the wreckage provide the only clues to their identities. The survivor, who calls himself "Johnny March," gets a list of the four men's names and addresses and goes AWOL from a hospital train to visit their families across the country.
