Whatever The Son Asks, The Father Grants (Particular Redemption)

Whatever the Son asks for, the Father grants it.

Anything God the Son requests, God the Father gives it to Him. This is major principle of the holy Trinity found in Christianity based on Scripture alone.

" I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession."
(Psalm 2:7-8)

This doctrine is emphasized in the New Testament:

"Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee."
(John 11:21-22)

And again:

"And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always."
(John 11:41-42)

The implications of this teaching is amazing, for Christ is God omnipotent, the Second Person of the Trinity, and so whatever Jesus desires necessarily comes to pass (Job 23:13), for the Father grants it, as the Holy Spirit aids effectually to accomplish it.

If Jesus Christ had desired to redeem all men—every man to proceed naturally from Adam—then no sinner would ever be cast into eternal damnation, for Jesus would have lived and died in all their names, reconciling them to the Father. But, that this is not the case is evident from the Bible:

"And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."
(Matthew 25:46)

And again:

"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."
(Revelation 21:15)

Some do die in their sins and go to eternal torment. These individuals, who were predestined by God to never believe the Gospel, are called reprobates. It follows that Jesus Christ never loved these individuals, never represented them, nor prayed for their redemption.

Instead, Christ loves all those the Father predestined to save from the foundation of the World—the elect given to the Messiah to save—and so Christ prays for their justification alone:

" I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine."
(John 17:9)

That Christ Jesus would definitely and effectually accomplished their redemption is clear from Scripture, which cannot lie:

"Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify MANY; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of MANY, and made intercession for the transgressors."
(Isaiah 53:10-12, emphasis mine)

That Christ Jesus made this particular redemption for the elect alone is also clear from the Bible:

"Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation."
(Revelation 5:9)

That the Father grants whatever the Son asks is an important part of God’s absolute predestination of all things, the Covenant of Redemption, monergism, justification by faith alone, and salvation by Jehovah’s sovereign grace alone—which precludes the evil traditions of men: human free will, indefinite and ineffectual universal/common grace, synergism, and justification by faith and works.
