He was called before the House Judiciary Committee on December 17, 2025 in closed door depostion about the classified documents and the 2020 election interference.

In 2016, the Supreme Court reversed McDonnell’s conviction in a unanimous decision, reported as an 8–0 ruling (Justice Scalia had died and one seat was vacant).
