Scripture speaks of two deaths, and understanding the difference is essential to understanding the cross.

In this teaching, we explore the biblical distinction between the first death, which God repeatedly calls a sleep, and the second death, which is final, irreversible separation from God after judgment. While all humanity experiences the first death, only the second death is the true penalty for sin.

This raises a critical question: If Yeshua had only died the first death, what would that mean for salvation?

Together, we examine:

⦁ Why the Bible does not treat physical death as the ultimate consequence of sin
⦁ What the “second death” really is according to Scripture
⦁ Why the cross required more than a temporary, physical death
⦁ How Yeshua bore the judgment sin demands—so we don’t have to
⦁ Why the resurrection proves the victory was complete

The gospel is not simply that Yeshua died and rose again—but what death He entered on our behalf. Because He bore the second death, God’s people face only the first death—a sleep from which He will awaken them.

This study brings clarity to the cross, the judgment, and the hope of resurrection, grounding each point firmly in Scripture.
