Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert reviews "The Beverly Hillbillies" ("Well, Doggies!" "Oil that is!, Black Gold, Texas Tea!" "Hills that is!, Swimming Pools, Movie Stars." Have a Love/Hate Relationship with this modern Comedy Remake Movie Adaptation of the Original Long-Running 1962-71 TV Series that I love. About a hillbilly turned Millionaire and his family are moving to Beverly Hills, California. The cast at least was great, but the story is kind of mediocre and dreadful. It's more of a pilot rather than other stories. Although, it does have some good moments. Directed By: Penelope Spheres. Starring: Jim Varney (coming out of his "Ernest" persona), Cloris Leachman, Erika Eleniak, Dietrich Bader, Dabney Coleman, Lilly Tomlin, Dolly Parton (Their second collaboration since "9-to-5"), Lea Thompson and Rob Schneider. Also, Buddy Ebsen, the original Jed Clampett who plays private investigator, Barnaby Jones (the Quinn Martin series) makes a cameo.); "Ruby in Paradise" (Terrific Drama featuring newcomer of the Country Music Duo, "The Judds". Their daughter Ashely Judd in her starring role.); "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas" (Simply the best Halloween/Christmas hybrid Stop-Motion Animated Feature ever made from animation director, Henry Selick. While Tim Burton produced and created along with Caroline Thompson and Denise Di Novi. Starring: Chris Sarandon, Catherine O'Hara, William Hickey, Paul Reubens and more.); "Fearless" (Not to be confused with the Jet Li's Martial Arts film, it's a Drama about a man who becomes cataclysmic and fearless by death after he survives a horrific plane crash. Directed By: Peter Weir. Starring: Jeff Bridges, Isabella Rossellini and Rosie Perez.) and "Mr. Wonderful" (A Romantic Comedy/Drama. Starring: Matt Dillion, Annabelle Sciorra and William Hurt.)

Video Pick of the Week: Ebert's pick is the brilliant Academy Award Winning War Classic, "The Bridges on the River Kwai" (1957). Directed By: David Lean. Starring: Alec Guiness. And a recap of Today's program.

Recorded on KATU ABC 2 in Portland, Oregon with Commercials intact.
