Trusting God with What is Ahead

Whenever we don’t know what is ahead of us, it can be intimidating and unsettling. It might be a new chapter in life, an unexpected detour, uncertainty with world events or simply entering into a new year. We are stepping into the unknown. BUT, we don't have to do it alone.

God assures us that He is with us wherever we are in life and that His plans for us will prevail as He tells us in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

And He assures us in Isaiah 41:10, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

The future may seem like a looming unknown, but God knows our future and He has actually revealed it to us too. Christ has already gone before us and has written the end of our story which has the word “victorious” stamped all over it.

As we travel the path ahead, we may not see what is around the bend, but we can trust the one who is already there AND who has ALWAYS been WITH US...all the way up to this point. When we reflect on our life, we can see His fingerprints in all the ways that He has provided, guided and carried us.

When Asaph was on a bumpy path, he chose to remember all the good that God had done. He wrote in Psalms 77:11-12, “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”

Our Loving Father is forever faithful to us and our journey as the author of Lamentations testifies in Lamentations 3:21-23, “This I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness!”

As we learn to place our trust and confidence in God, we can let go of our worries and anxieties about what is ahead.

We read in Isaiah 26:3-4, "[3] You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. [4] Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal."

The Lord is our Rock and He is eternal. He is the only sure thing that we can count on. In every single circumstance, He is there to turn to for His guidance, wisdom, strength and encouragement.

So let us remember that God has plans for us...plans to prosper us...to give us hope and a future. Let us remember that God is with us and will strengthen us and uphold us. Let us remember His faithfulness towards us in the past. Let us place our trust in our Rock eternal for what is ahead. He is THE author of our story and He has already guaranteed that, at the end, we are "victorious".
