Antisemitism is on the rise worldwide today, but it is not really new. It was prevalent in culture in pre- and during World War II. The US Holocaust Memorial Museum website notes that “The Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of approximately six million Jews.” It is estimated that 200,000 Jews survived in hiding across Europe. In the French town of Le Chambon-sur-Lignon – aided 3,000–3,500 Jews who were fleeing from the Vichy authorities and the Germans. German businessman Oskar Schindler is credited with saving the lives of 1,200 Jews during the Holocaust. Avi Mizrachi and D'vora M.B. share the story of two individuals in Sofia, Bulgaria, a Rabbi who embraced the Messiah and his friend, a senior bishop in the Bulgarian Orthodox Church along with the assistance of resistance by ordinary citizens and political figures rescued over 48,000 Jews in Bulgaria from deportation and extermination camps.
