Hey everyone — it’s Leaflit! In today’s video I’m reacting to Padda’s video “They Are CHANGING the Definition of ‘Transphobia’?!” where he breaks down how the meaning of a "word" that means prejudice or negative attitudes toward trans people for the only reason that they are trans has been shifted over time by some on the left to expand what counts as “transphobic” — sometimes in ways that make simple disagreement or debate itself seem like hate.

According to dictionaries like Merriam-Webster” and Collins, transphobia at its core simply means discrimination, aversion, or hostility toward trans people — and historically it was about fear, not every possible criticism or disagreement someone could have.

But organizations and activists have been adjusting the wording and expanding the definition in HR policies, training programs, and cultural conversation so broadly that it starts to blame people for neutral disagreement or factual discussions about biology, policy, or language. In one notable example, a major advocacy group revised its definition from fear to any prejudice or negative attitude toward trans people, which broadens the scope significantly — and that can silence honest conversation instead of protecting people from real harm.

I think it’s important to keep language clear and grounded in actual meaning. When definitions are constantly reshaped to fit narratives, it becomes harder to have honest, productive discussions about real issues — and easier to shut down dissent or debate by rebranding it as something harmful.

That doesn’t mean any criticism should be hateful — hate, threats, or violence toward anyone is wrong — but when a definition gets stretched so thin that mere disagreement is labeled as the worst possible intent, that’s a real problem for open dialogue.
