Salisbury Steak is one of my favorite comfort dishes and is always on repeat around the holidays. It’s has tender savory ground beef patties smothered in a rich mushroom gravy. It’s a classic dish that just warms your heart!

Salisbury Steak

Ingredients
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1/3 cup bread crumbs
1 egg, beaten
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

For the mushroom gravy
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
2 tablespoons flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon soy sauce

Directions
Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
Divide beef and form into 5 patties.
Heat oil in a pan and brown patties about 3 minutes per side (beef does not need to be cook through at this point). Remove and set aside.
Add mushrooms and deglaze the pan with a little broth or water if needed. Cook mushrooms for 4-5 minutes over medium heat.
Stir in flour.
Stir in beef broth in increments while whisking to avoid lumps. Add soy sauce and bring to a boil. Season with salt and pepper and let simmer until slightly thickened, about 3 minutes over medium heat.
Return beef patties back to the pan. Cover and let simmer over medium low for 10 minutes.
