Overcoming Negative Self-Talk in Running

When I started dipping my toe into being more competitive, I began hearing a lot of negative self-talk.

"Why do I suck at running, I've been running for so long!?" as I'd compare myself to the other women around me who were also competing.

You have to come back at yourself and say something like, "calm down," and then remind yourself of your race strategy and how it will work out when you follow it. I also remind myself that it's "you versus the course."

"Stick to your plan and don't worry about what the other women are doing." [At this early part of the race.]
