God Comes Walking

In the spirit of Charles Spurgeon, the gospel declares that God comes to man before man ever comes to repentance. Grace takes the first step, pursuing the sinner, awakening the conscience, and revealing Christ. It is God’s mercy that bends the heart, exposes sin, and makes repentance possible. Man does not repent to attract God; he repents because God has already drawn near. Repentance, then, is not the cause of grace but the fruit of it, flowing from a heart touched by divine love.
