Venezuelans Celebrate Maduro’s Arrest in Argentina and the US

In Buenos Aires, Argentina, Venezuelans held large-scale celebrations after the arrest of Maduro.

About 220,000 Venezuelans live in Argentina. Almost all of them migrated there over the past decade because of the Venezuelan refugee crisis, during which 7–8 million people left the country.

In the United States, celebrations and protests also took place in many states, but the protests were much smaller in number. The protests against Maduro’s arrest were organized by leftists and liberals who protest against any action taken by Trump. Despite good organization and events being held in many US cities, almost nobody showed up except the leftists and liberals themselves. There were no Venezuelans there.

Almost all Venezuelans in the US hate Maduro and remember well what his rule led to. In many US cities, celebrations were held, including in Florida (Miami), where thousands of Venezuelans took part. Personally, I do not know a single Venezuelan who was against Maduro’s arrest. Not a single one.
