Women in Islam

You might have heard that Islam is a champion for women's rights. But is that true? Looking at some of what the Quran, Hadith, and tafsir (commentaries) have to say about the topic, we can see that women have a lower status than men, numerous rules about appearance, and are subject to strict control by their husbands.
