CS #454. Hollywood and Vine

is a 1945 American comedy-drama film that satirizes the movie industry.
Plot Summary
The story follows Martha Manning (Wanda McKay), an optimistic young woman who arrives in Hollywood determined to become a movie star. Despite her confidence, she finds it difficult to break into the industry and eventually takes a job at a drugstore located at the famous intersection of Hollywood and Vine.
Parallel to Martha's journey, Larry Winters (James Ellison), a successful New York playwright, is hired to write a screenplay about Hollywood. Knowing nothing about the city, he takes an undercover job at the same drugstore to conduct research on aspiring starlets. The film's primary twist occurs when a dog named Emperor (played by Daisy from the Blondie series) becomes the actual breakout star of the duo, achieving the fame Martha originally sought for herself.
