The American Black Bear (Ursus americanus) is a species of bear found throughout North America. The Vancouver Island Black Bear (Ursus americanus vancouveri),seen here, is the largest of the six subspecies of Black Bear in British Columbia, Canada. The Vancouver Island Black Bear can be found on Vancouver Island and some of the other nearby islands.
