There’s blood on the sidewalk before the truth arrives
A name turns into shouting before anyone asks why
Headlines make their verdicts while the sirens still cry
Everybody’s certain, no one’s asking why

Someone died, that should stop us cold
Not light a fire, not make us bold
But we rush to judgment, take our side
And call it justice when someone dies

That truth still matters now

A human life is a vow
When politics decides who deserves to die
Freedom fades without a sound

Some say law and order, some say mercy first
Everybody’s holding answers like belief replaces truth
Empathy disappears the moment colors change
We excuse the things we’d never forgive if the roles were rearranged

One believed she was defending what she thought was right
One believed he wouldn’t make it out alive that night
Fear met fear in seconds, no space left to breathe
Now the world wants saints and devils instead of what we need

Slow it down, someone died
That alone should stop the sound

Our anger is profound
When ideology buries empathy
Liberty goes underground

We’ve seen this road before now, different name, same scar
Spin the story faster, truth won’t get that far
If proof no longer matters, if rage decides the end
Then justice isn’t blind anymore, it just bends

A republic lives on restraint, not on who screams the loudest lie
Truth needs time, mercy needs light, not a mob to decide
If your politics makes you cheer when the final line is drawn
Then liberty didn’t disappear; we just stopped holding on

Slow it down, someone died
That should slow us all
