Was the Book of Daniel written by a prophet in Babylon, or a forger in Judea?

On Day 14 of our journey, we confront the "Great Critic." In the 3rd Century, a philosopher named Porphyry wrote a massive work arguing that Daniel was a fake—history written in the past tense disguised as future prophecy. His arguments were so dangerous that Roman Emperors ordered his books to be burned. Today, most modern secular scholars agree with him.

In this deep dive, we examine the "smoking gun" evidence against the traditional dating of Daniel. From Greek loanwords hidden in the Aramaic text to the eerily specific political history of Daniel 11, we analyze why critics claim this book is from the Maccabean era (165 BC). We also explore the counter-arguments, including the Dead Sea Scrolls and the testimony of Jesus, to answer the ultimate question: Is the Bible accurate?
