2 Kings 20:1 / Isaiah 38:1: “In those days Hezekiah became sick and was at the point of death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.’” Deep Thought This is one of the most frightening sentences in Scripture. No warning. No softening. No timeline. Just finality. Hezekiah was a faithful king. He trusted God, tore down idols, and led reforms. Yet righteousness did not spare him from sickness. This reminds us of a hard truth: Faith does not cancel suffering. Sometimes, God allows His most faithful servants to face the edge of death not as punishment, but as a moment of deep encounter.
