Led Zeppelin – Royal Albert Hall, 9 January 1970 - Part 2
I was extremely lucky in 1970, when I saw
Canned Heat, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Led Zeppelin on different concerts.
Led Zeppelin’s Royal Albert Hall concert is widely regarded as one of the greatest performances of their career and a landmark in rock history.
I was there, and it was beyond awesome and one of the best concerts I have ever been to in my life!!
Coming at the end of their first North American tour and just before the release of Led Zeppelin II, the band was at peak intensity and confidence.
The band delivered an exceptionally tight yet explosive set, balancing raw power with extended improvisation. Jimmy Page’s guitar work, particularly on Dazed and Confused, was incredible.
Songs included
“We’re Gonna Groove,”
“I Can’t Quit You Baby,”
“Heartbreaker,”
“How Many More Times,”
The epic 20+ minute “Dazed and Confused.”
Robert Plant was in prime vocal form—powerful, bluesy, and commanding.
Jimmy Page combined precision riffs with adventurous solos.
John Paul Jones anchored the band with melodic bass and keyboard work.
John Bonham delivered thunderous, dynamic drumming that drove the performance.
