Headmaster’s Homeroom – Art Night welcomes artist Geoff Houghton, a self-taught painter whose imaginative work brings history, fantasy, and bold color together in a world all his own. With a lifelong fascination for visual storytelling, Geoff’s art evolved from early watercolor beginnings into a distinctive fine illustrative style that blends elements of Steampunk and Pop Surrealism.

Geoff’s work centers on colorful, whimsical characters set in an alternate Victorian-era reality—where fashion, technology, and personality collide. Often inspired by real historical figures, his subjects are reimagined within his vibrant “SteamFolk” universe, also known as the “Wistful World.” Influences from El Greco, Alphonse Mucha, and Dr. Seuss can be felt throughout his work, while Amedeo Modigliani’s elongated figurative forms serve as a defining foundation for his recent pieces.

His art has been widely exhibited in galleries, libraries, and arts centers, earning numerous awards and consistent recognition in juried shows. Most recently, Geoff’s work was accepted into the Crème de la Crème 2025 juried exhibition at the Visual Arts Guild of Frisco, Texas.
