The emotional engine of the plot
– Teddy’s pain: Teddy isn’t just a kooky conspiracy theorist. He’s a beekeeper who genuinely loves his bees, and he blames his suffering — including his mom’s coma — on the world he sees as corrupt and hostile. Belief becomes his way to make meaning out of loss. 
– Michelle’s response: Michelle, the CEO, becomes both a hostage and a psychological chess opponent. She’s not passive. She fights back, questions everything, and makes Teddy confront what he really believes — whether she’s alien or whether humanity is its own worst enemy. 
– Don’s role: Don, Teddy’s cousin, brings another emotional layer. He isn’t just a sidekick — he’s neurodivergent, and his presence adds depth to the psychological dissonance of the kidnapping.
