For years, rumors have persisted that Freeland and her mother Halyna worked for Soros. That the Trudeau Liberals were heavily influenced by Soros. This isn't exactly true. The left will use technicalities to deflect and deny. But it's close to the truth.
Freeland wrote an autobiography on Soros. This appears to have been a prospective freelance project rather than formal employment. No evidence we can find shows the book was completed, or that she received any sort of payment directly from Soros. Or that it involved ongoing salaried work.
Halyna however has much deeper connections. She worked for a Soros funded NGO...
Halyna Freeland was a Canadian lawyer, feminist activist, and legal reformer who moved to Ukraine in the early 1990s after Ukrainian independence to work on judicial reforms.
She helped establish the Ukrainian Legal Foundation (ULF), a project funded by Soros's Open Society Foundations.
Halyna served in roles like counsel to the ULF board chairman, working on legal reform, constitutional drafting, and related initiatives.
This was grant-funded NGO work through an Open Society Foundation supported organization. Not direct employment by Soros personally.
But, it's safe to say that the Freeland family and Soros are good acquaintances.
