During the 1918 Spanish flu epidemic, the lobby of Hotel Jerome wasn’t welcoming guests — it was holding the dead.

At the height of the outbreak, bodies were brought into the hotel as the town struggled to keep up with the sheer number of deaths. And while there are no official ghost stories tied to the lobby being used as a morgue, it’s hard not to wonder what kind of energy lingers in a place like that.

So many lives.
So much loss.
All inside what is now one of Aspen’s most famous historic hotels.

History doesn’t always leave behind ghosts…
but it does leave questions.
