Quails instead of chickens?

Quails are small and take up less space than chickens. This makes them great for urban backyards and small spaces.

🐥 They lay little speckled eggs that are both gorgeous and delicious! Quail eggs are slightly higher in protein but are pretty much interchangeable with chicken eggs in most recipes.

🐥 Quail are very quiet, and you’re allowed to keep boys too (whereas boy chickens aren’t allowed in most urban council areas). Boy quails ‘crow’ but the sound is like a trill and isn’t loud at all!

🐥 Like chickens, they are great at eating greens and poopin’ organic fertiliser for your garden. My quails live in a deep litter pen, which means that their valuable poop mixes with the bedding to make compost for me to use too!

🐥 They’re just so bloody cute and fun to have around!!

PS There are many kinds of quail but the ones I have are Japanese quail (or coturnix quail), which are the breed of quail best for eggs 🥰
