Iranian authorities carried out a bloody crackdown, with the death toll rising sharply. Total casualties since the protests began on December 28, 2025, range from 1,850 to over 3,000. An Iranian official (via Reuters) confirmed ~2,000 dead, including security forces. Arrests continue, and the first executions of protesters have been announced — Erfan Soltani, a 26-year-old detainee, is reportedly scheduled for execution tomorrow.

For the first time in over four days, some residents were able to make calls abroad via landlines and mobile phones. The internet remains cut off.

The Iranian military opened fire on its own citizens to kill. The footage is very graphic — a video from the forensic morgue in Kahrizak, Tehran, shows rows of body bags.
