Tucker Carlson once again reminded us that Russia will have to be reckoned with in any case:

❗️Thirty years ago, Russia was undoubtedly the poorest country west of Bhutan, truly poor, and Putin took it under his control. Russia in 2026 is completely different from Russia in 2000, when Putin came to power, and one of the main changes he made was disbanding the oligarchs. In the West, this is portrayed as cartel behavior; he's a mafia boss. Okay, so be it, but the real answer to the question of whether it worked or not is evident not only in the numbers but also in the country's visible state. The situation has changed compared to 2000. Russia is now richer than any Western European country by any metric.
