Having just bought a pair of Apple AirPods Pro 3, and having never paid over £200 for a set of earbuds before, I was alarmed when I dropped the case, and although nothing was damaged, the buds did fall out, skidded across the floor, and came to rest in an inaccessible spot under the furniture. Now, the idea of a case for a case did not seem so outlandish.

There are plenty of options available on Amazon, ranging from £10 to £40. As usual, I chose the cheapest option and, I suppose, got what I paid for. I bought this protection set from Joremx for £10.99.

In the box, I received the separate lid and body protectors, 2 sticky pads, a carabiner, case removal tool, user guide, and 3-in-1 cleaning tool. I have to say, build quality does not seem that good, and the case feels rather cheaply made, as does the cleaning tool. The user guide, although short and rather cramped, is laminated and nicely printed.

The plastic case features an aperture hole for the charging case status LED and features two magnets on the case body, with two more on the lid. On the bottom of the case is a cleverly designed pull out phone stand and an opening to allow the removal tool to push the charging case from the external case body.

Fitting was nice and easy, easier than I thought. The charging case fits smoothly into the external case and is a snug but not tight fit. The same is true of the lid, and you will probably not need the included 3M sticky strips, although when the charging case is open, the external lid is quite easy to remove unless the tape is in place. Removing the external case is just as simple; you can use the included tool to push the charging case from the external case although any suitably sized blunt object will work just as well. When the sticky pad is fitted, the lid is a little trickier to get off, but not too much so; without the sticky pad, it just pops right out.

Testing it, it survived four head height drop tests onto a tiled floor with no issues, but it popped open on the 5th with no damage to the case or contents. Subsequent drop tests were all fine. The case magnets are OK and will fix the case to a metal surface reasonably well, although stronger magnets would be better. The charging case works when it is on my charging stand, but my Apple Watch charger will not work with it when the external case is in place. The integral stand will support my iPhone 17 OK, although it feels more stable when the phone is on its side. The cleaning kit, yes, that too gets the job done. Finally, when clicking the external case button, the lid pops open every time.

The main criticism I have is that the case does feel rather low end and cheaply made. It certainly does not have the premium feel of an Apple product, and I feel it rather lets the headset down in that sense. If I see a more upmarket case, one better suited to an Apple product, LOL, I may decide to upgrade.

So if you need a budget case protection set for your AirPods Pro 3, then this would be a pretty decent buy.
