MidKnight Expressions Episode 25

Hello my Knight's and Knightie's welcome to episode 25 of MidKnight Expressions.
This week's video release is the second from, The Madman. This is the bio of the voices in our heads. True madness the song is titled, Jacky the Shadow.
I have completed the acoustic video of the forth release from Somber Moon, and the oldest of my original songs. Its title is Emily. I have also completed the bio and A-Cappella for what will be the fourth song from Spells and Spirits, a song at the heart of my personal philosophy the song is titled Alchemy. I have also started recording my forth release form Anger Management, a song that may be a bit blasphemous titled Hale Lord. .

My review this week is a stand alone book from one of my favorite authors. The man who created Dungeon Crawler Carl, Matt Dinniman. The book title is, Kaiju Battle Surgeon.

An artist, still broken from a horrific family tragedy, takes on a commission that seems too good to be true: $15,000 to paint a mural. But there’s a catch. He has to first enter the deep-dive, VR videogame, Kaiju: Battlefield Surgeon in order to see what the client wants him to paint.
Trapped in a bloody, merciless nightmare, Duke only has one goal — to survive. And in order to survive, he must play the game. He must win the game. And to do that, he must become the most cruel, most ruthless monster of them all.

Ok so this book reminds me of the movie Osmosis Joe. Let's look at biology for a moment. We as living biological beings are mostly made up of bacteria. Yep that's right we are Multi-Celled organisms. Layered on-top of layers.
That being said, this book actually caused a physical reaction. I nearly vomited! Now wow that is some good writing. A book so visceral it discussed me, for this i have to respect the author, Matt Dinniman. To write something so graphic to cause a physical reaction is an accomplishment.
Wait a moment, do we not read action or romance novels for a physical reaction? Yes, yes we do. We want our lives to mirror what we are immersed into. In other words we want to react to whatever medium whether it be romance, action, horror..etc. We just want to be safe as we are frightened, in lust, or in a high intense combat.
So let's get to the internal organs. This book is not only about the physical reaction but the mental ones as well.
As this book viscerally describes the internal biology of giant Kaiju monsters with a no holds barred graphic description. Hence why there are moments when I get physically sick.
Furthermore there is a moment when the main character, Duk, gets tortured. Nothing is held back as his entire body including genitals are cut, split and manipulated on a public display.
Now wait, I once saw a movie called Lunacy Sileni Czech. Where the director claims that art is lost for graphic display. I need to push this even further. Look through history. It is full of people who actually tortured others on public display. Everything from people being placed in a metal bull and slowly roasted. The flaying of others, having rats bore into a living human to yes let not forget witches being burned at the stake. This is the ugly truth about who we were and where we came from.
As I stated before this book is not just about physical grotesqueness. It is a book about mental instability. Everything from kidnapping, drug addiction, manipulation with threats to one's family, murder and self mutilation.
Since we are diving back into the world of the Madman I feel this book review goes alongside with the release of the bio of Jacky the Shadow.
