Hey everyone — it’s Leaflit! In this video I’m reacting to Rev Says Desu’s video “Twitter Freaks Tried To Cancel ‘Insensitive’ VTuber But Her Response Obliterated Them” about VTuber ChaCha and the backlash she faced after making a joke about ICE during a stream or clip that went viral online. Some people on Twitter called it “insensitive” and piled on trying to “cancel” her, but if you look closely at what happened — it wasn’t some hateful thing — it was a silly, absurd joke that a lot of viewers found funny.

ChaCha’s joke was basically a playful bit where she riffed on a running internet gag about ICE — poking fun rather than attacking vulnerable people — and many in the community pointed out that she was literally joking about ICE itself, not targeting victims of raids or families. That’s why a lot of people still found it funny and contextually lighthearted, even if some Twitter users blew it way out of proportion.

I’m critical of the people attacking ChaCha. This is exactly the kind of performative outrage we see over and over on social media — people hunting for “offense” instead of understanding context or just letting jokes exist. A joke that makes fun of an institution like ICE — especially in VTuber spaces where satire and absurd humor are common — is not a call to harm anyone.

I’m supportive of ChaCha for not backing down. Instead of apologizing or bending to the outrage mob, she stood her ground and didn’t let online critics dictate how she should feel about her own content. That’s exactly what resilient creators do — they know their audience, their context, and they don’t let Twitter drama ruin their streams or creative freedom.

Cancel culture on Twitter isn’t real “cancellation” anymore. A lot of the people calling things “insensitive” are just chasing clout and attention — and let’s be honest, a joke about ICE (especially one meant to be absurd or critical of the agency’s reputation) isn’t the same thing as bigotry or harm. Plenty of people who saw the joke — including some from communities affected by enforcement — said they understood it was a satirical dig at the system, not at individuals.

If you think creators should be able to make jokes, express themselves, and not be dragged by outrage mobs for every edgy line, hit Like, Subscribe, and ring. Then tell me in the comments: Have you seen a situation where Twitter outrage got totally out of hand over something harmless?
