Horror Hotel / City of the Dead (1960): A Devilish ...
Synopsis
The film begins in 1692, when an accused witch named Elizabeth Selwyn is burned at the stake, cursing the town of Whitewood with her dying breath. Centuries later, in 1960, a college student named Nan Barlow (Venetia Stevenson), who is researching witchcraft for a paper, is encouraged by her professor, Alan Driscoll (Christopher Lee), to visit the isolated town.
Nan stays at the eerie Raven's Inn, run by the mysterious Mrs. Newless (also played by Patricia Jessel). She quickly discovers that the town is not what it seems. The inhabitants are part of a coven of immortal witches who must sacrifice two people each year to Lucifer to maintain their eternal life. Nan is chosen as their next victim.
When Nan disappears, her brother Richard (Dennis Lotis) and boyfriend Bill (Tom Naylor) follow her to Whitewood to investigate. With the help of the local reverend's granddaughter, Patricia Russell (Betta St. John), they uncover the town's sinister secret and attempt to destroy the coven in a climactic showdown in the graveyard.
