Klobuchar declares Minnesota governor run

Senator Amy Klobuchar announced she will run for governor of Minnesota after incumbent Tim Walz decided not to seek a third term.

In her announcement, she criticized federal immigration enforcement, including recent ICE actions that resulted in the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, and pledged to remove “abusive” ICE tactics from the state.

Klobuchar outlined three guiding principles for her campaign, including standing up for what’s right and cracking down on fraud, citing schemes that have allegedly stolen billions in federal relief funds.

Walz praised ordinary citizens for resisting federal agents and said he would find other ways to continue public service, The Guardian has reported.

The upcoming gubernatorial race will likely focus on immigration enforcement and fraud issues, with a crowded Republican field, while Klobuchar brings decades of Senate and legal experience to her campaign.
