The First Intifada did not begin in 1987. It began in1936 when Palestinians rose up against British colonial rule in a full scale war for independence.
This video tells the story of the 1936–1939 Palestinian Arab Revolt—from the pressures that made it inevitable, to how a peasant guerrilla army brought British rule in Palestine to its knees. It follows the lives of the men and women who led the uprising, the brutal counterinsurgency used to crush it, and how its destruction paved the road to 1948.
