God Elects Gideon- Judges 6:17-24

In this message, Pastor Earl Wallace walks through Judges 6 to show how God elects and calls Gideon while Israel is suffering because they “did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.”

Even though Gideon feels small, unqualified, and confused about why hardship has happened, God meets him personally through “the Angel of the Lord” and patiently gives him assurance and signs of favor. Gideon responds the right way: he recognizes God, worships, and offers a “peace offering,” and God confirms His acceptance by consuming it with fire from the rock, then vanishing so Gideon must live by faith, not sight.

The takeaway is that God does not reject people who come to Him with weak faith and honest questions, and that real peace comes through reconciliation with God in Christ, which leads to a new identity and a new calling.
