Off Grid ALTERNATIVE Septic System

In this episode we are going to explain our off grid alternative septic system!

Hello and welcome back! In May of 2022 we sold our home in Denver and most everything we own to move onto our 36 acre homestead property in the high desert of SE Arizona. Follow along as we build our hyperadobe homestead from scratch!

We made progress on our off-grid, alternative septic system and the permits are all now approved and closed! Woohoo! This is very exciting because now we can move forward with our house build :)

Most of you know, we have very, VERY rocky property so a traditional septic system with a leach field was not going to work. We ended up getting a "vault and haul" style system designed for our kitchen sink water which Arizona considers the same thing as black water. Our system has two components to it, the vault and haul tank and the 3 barrel composting toilet system. Each one requires a separate permit from the County FYI...we learned that the hard way!
