Hey everyone — it’s Leaflit! In this video I’m reacting to Benny Johnson’s video “🚨They Actually Did It…” about the federal arrest of former CNN anchor Don Lemon in connection with his involvement in an anti-ICE protest that interrupted a church service in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Here’s the verified context:
Don Lemon was arrested in Los Angeles on January 29, when federal agents from the FBI and Homeland Security took him into custody over his role in a protest at Cities Church that interfered with a religious service.
He and three others were charged with conspiracy and violations of civil rights and the FACE Act, which makes it illegal to obstruct or intimidate people’s right to worship.
Authorities allege Lemon wasn’t just passively reporting — he knew of the protest in advance, followed demonstrators inside, and documented the disruption in a way that may have crossed into active participation, not just journalism.

Here’s my take:

I’m critical of Don Lemon’s conduct. If you’re going to claim you’re just reporting, that doesn’t give you a free pass to be in the middle of a protest that is disrupting a private church service. Churches are protected houses of worship and interrupting a service — especially while filming, leading chants, or engaging with protesters — isn’t neutral journalism; it’s crossing a line.

I’m supportive of law enforcement’s response. The Constitution protects free speech and peaceful protest, but it also protects the right of people to worship without intimidation or disruption. When someone’s actions interfere with that — especially in a coordinated way — authorities have every right to step in and enforce the law.

Journalism should inform, not participate. There’s a difference between shining a light on an event and being part of it. By embedding himself with organizers and entering the church during a disruptive action, Lemon stepped into murky territory that made legal consequences predictable.

If you think journalists should report news without becoming part of it, and that the law should treat worship disruption seriously, hit Like, Subscribe, and ring. Then tell me in the comments: Where do you think the line between reporting and participating should be drawn?
