Hey everyone — it’s Leaflit! In this video I’m reacting to the latest unrest in Los Angeles where anti-ICE protests turned violent around a federal immigration enforcement facility. Thousands of demonstrators marched and clashed with federal agents and police as part of a nationwide “ICE Out of Everywhere” action, which followed protests over immigration enforcement tactics and fatal shootings by federal agents.

Here’s what actually happened:
A large crowd gathered and marched through downtown Los Angeles protesting ICE.
As night fell, some parts of the demonstration became chaotic — with trash and debris thrown at officers and even a dumpster set on fire outside a federal detention center.
Law enforcement responded with pepper balls, irritant sprays, and crowd control tactics, and multiple people were arrested after dispersal orders were issued.
These clashes are part of a much larger wave of protests across the country, with actions planned in more than 300 cities as part of a broader opposition movement.

In this reaction, I’ll break down:
1. Why rioters turning protests into vandalism is dangerous — Setting dumpsters on fire, targeting federal facilities, and escalating violence only hurts peaceful protesters and legitimizes stronger crackdowns.
2. How local authorities and the state government have been slow or ineffective at restoring order — issuing dispersal orders late and sometimes appearing passive as infrastructure is damaged.
3. Why supporting ICE and federal agents matters — they are tasked with enforcing U.S. law, protecting immigration facilities, and ensuring communities are safe, even under intense political pressure.

I’m absolutely critical of violent rioters who take what should be peaceful protest space and turn it into chaos. And I’m also critical of the state government responses that seem to tolerate or under-react to these escalations instead of stopping destruction before it starts. At the same time, I’m supportive of ICE and law enforcement’s role in enforcing laws and protecting federal property — and it’s important to acknowledge the rule of law matters even when people have strong disagreements.
