Prophecy Simplified: Why Hebrews 4 Begins with Fear, Not Rest.

Why does Hebrews 4 begin with fear… instead of rest?

Hebrews 4 opens with a startling exhortation:
“Let us therefore fear…”

But why fear — if the chapter is about entering God’s rest?

In this episode of Prophecy Simplified, we examine the first five verses of Hebrews 4 and uncover the tension between promise and warning. The author does not begin with comfort. He begins with reverent urgency.

A promise still remains.
Yet some failed to enter because of unbelief.

We explore:

• The meaning of “fear” (phobos) in its biblical context
• The connection between unbelief and disobedience
• The Greek terms katapausis (rest) and sabbatismos
• How God’s rest links back to creation
• Why the gospel was preached to Israel — yet did not profit them
• What this means for us today

Hebrews 4 does not contradict salvation by grace.
It clarifies the posture required to enter the promise.

This is not fear of terror —
but awe before a promise that is still open… and still at stake.

A solemn invitation.
A remaining rest.
An awe-filled promise.
