Remember, the soil does not have dominion over the seed. When a seed is placed in the ground, that seed makes a demand on the soil, and the soil must respond. In our backyard vegetable garden, if a bird or squirrel drops a few weed seeds, the soil doesn’t refuse them—it simply grows whatever is planted. It has no choice.
