Attorneys Expect Jussie Smollett To Not Serve Prison Time For False Police Report

Jussie Smollett was recently charged with filing a false police report of being attacked in a hate crime. Yet Chicago-based defense attorneys and other legal experts think it is unlikely the actor will serve any time. According to SFGate, Smollett was charged with a Class 4 felony, which is the lowest kind of felony. In Illinois, this would carry a maximum of 1 to 3 years in prison and a fine up to $25,000. A former prosecutor said most people do not go to prison for a Class 4 felony.
