Fans took to Twitter to debate whether Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was the first black WWE champion. According to Comicbook.com, one Twitter user pointed out that Johnson identified as Samoan. Johnson was quick to find out about the debate and tried to clear it up on Twitter. The actor said he identifies and is “equally proud” to be Black and Samoan. He then also said he “transcended race in wrestling’ and was not booked a certain way in WWE.
