Conservationists are preparing to open a house designed by world-famous Charles Rennie Mackintosh to the public - after the crumbling masterpiece was wrapped in a protective box.

The landmark Hill House was built as "a home for the future" by the iconic designer and artist in 1902. But the experimental material used in the structure allowed water to soak into the building.
