Great Dane Figures Out He Can Drink out of the Pool

Mikey the Great Dane has taken another step towards being a Pool Water Dog. While playing with his Lab buddy Gator, Mikey figured out that he can drink out of the pool. Next lesson putting his paws in the pool. Mikey loves to play in the pond, so water isn't the issue, it just that the pool has steps. Any suggestions for how to have Mikey take that first step would be appreciated.
