New notification service to aid Hawaii drivers

The state Department of Transportation is offering a new notification service for scheduled and emergency road closures, which the public can subscribe to at its website, hidot.hawaii.gov. The noti­fications can be customized by location and are available via email or text.

The state’s GoAkamai app soon will expand to include roads on Maui, Kauai and the Big Island.
